Start drawing or Try Rising ribbons. Paint/erase the amplitude field. Brighter pixels make louder sine bands; top is high pitch and left is the beginning. Mapping selects duration, frequency range, threshold, gamma and inversion. Render & listen generates the current edit. Editing clears old audio.
Open single PNG/JPEG up to 16 MiB / 16 million pixels or Inkphonic JSON up to 24 MiB through Files. Images are oriented and stretched to 128 × 64; transparency is black. 20 projects, 16 mapping presets each, 128 MiB saved total. Undo holds 20 drawing strokes for the current session.
Export creates a ZIP with Sound.wav, Amplitude.png, Bands.csv, Inkphonic.json and Readme.txt, plus unchanged original image when imported. Use Share ZIP / Save to Files. Open Inkphonic.json from the app menu to restore an independent project including raw grid, presets and original bytes. ZIP import is not supported. Re-render audio after reopening. Keep exported backups before deletion or uninstalling.
64 logarithmic sine bands, 128 time columns with linear amplitude interpolation, 0.5–8 s, 100–8000 Hz. Mono 48 kHz PCM16 normalized to −1 dBFS sample peak unless silent, 10 ms fades; not true-peak limiting. Start at low media volume. The silent switch does not mute media playback. If output is silent, paint brighter pixels or reduce threshold. This makes a new sound, not reconstruction of audio hidden in an image. No mic, audio import, AUv3, MIDI or real-time plugin.
