First session
The library starts empty. Import a file from Library → Import MIDI from Files, or explicitly load the original Glass phrase example. Use Source, Result or Overlay to compare. Save a named version in Versions. Open Files, tap Build MIDI bank and then Share ZIP bank. Changing settings or versions invalidates the previous output so you can rebuild it.
Supported files and limits
SMF 0/1 with PPQ timing: up to 4 MB, 64 tracks, 10,000 notes, 100,000 events and 4,096 quarter beats. Format 2, SMPTE timing, malformed events and unmatched, zero-length or overlapping same-track/channel/key notes are rejected. Export also rejects pitches outside MIDI 0–127 and new overlaps. Keep up to 12 sources and 20 versions per source. ZIP banks are limited to 100 MB before packaging.
What remains unchanged
Notes outside your selected onset range and tracks are retained. Tempo, meter, program, controller, text and SysEx events remain at source ticks. Moving a note does not move its controller events. The transformed file keeps its format and PPQ, with normalized event encoding; Source.mid preserves the exact imported bytes.
Preview and scope
The plain sine preview illustrates timing and pitch within a window of up to 30 seconds and 256 notes. It does not reproduce instruments, percussion, controllers or sustain. Tickweave does not record audio, connect to MIDI hardware, host AUv3, synchronize with a DAW or create notation.
Local library
Projects and versions are saved on your device. Rename, duplicate or delete a source from its actions or library. Saved versions can be loaded, renamed or deleted. Deleting the app removes its local library; export important banks first.
Privacy
Effective October 2, 2026. Tickweave MIDI Shaper is provided by Gobling Company.
We do not collect data from this app. There is no developer account, backend, advertising, analytics or tracking SDK. Imported MIDI, project notes, settings, named versions and generated files are processed and stored locally on your device.
You choose files through the system Files picker and choose destinations through the system share sheet. A cloud file provider or sharing destination you select operates under its own privacy policy. Ordinary device backups may include local app data according to your Apple settings.
You can delete projects in the library or remove the app to remove its local data. Copies that you exported or shared remain wherever you saved them. If you email support, we receive the message and attachments you voluntarily send, and use them to answer your request.
