Plan a test

A normal install is empty. Create a named run with base exposure, lamp distance, mesh, emulsion and lamp. Choose 3, 5, 7 or 9 steps, spaced by 0.25, 0.5 or 1 stop. Each duration equals base time × 2 raised to its stop offset. Each is a separate total test exposure; this is not a cumulative masking schedule or a calibrated test film.

Base time is 0.1–3,600 seconds; each calculated exposure must be positive and no more than four hours. Distance is 1–500 cm and mesh 10–1,000 threads/in. Run names allow 80 Unicode code points, material names 100 and notes 1,200.

Record and select

Tap a strip cell or row. Rate washout opening and retained detail from 0 (poor) to 5 (best), and count 0–99 pinholes. Blank values stay unrecorded. Score = 2 × washout + 2 × detail − 3 × pinholes. A score appears only when all three values exist. Select the result you want to repeat; the app does not automatically choose the highest score. Clearing an observation clears that step’s selection.

Keep results tied to their setup

Changing time, distance, mesh, emulsion, lamp or step setup clears observations and selection. Changing only title or notes keeps them. New run from setup creates a fresh run with no old notes, observations or selected step. Save commits changes; Cancel discards the editor draft.

Distance estimates

Select a fully recorded step, then open Distance estimate. The formula is selected time × (new distance ÷ reference distance)². Distances are 1–500 cm; estimates over 24 hours are unsupported. This point-source approximation may not fit LED panels or multi-lamp units. Keep other conditions unchanged and verify with another physical test. It does not change the saved run.

PDF, CSV and ZIP

The report preview renders the actual generated PDF. Save through Android Files or share the ZIP with a recipient app. CSV quotes commas and newlines and neutralizes formula-leading text with an apostrophe. The ZIP contains the PDF, CSV, JSON record, README and SHA-256 file manifest. JSON is a record; no import/restore workflow is provided. Reports are snapshots and do not change after later edits.

Local storage and recovery

Up to 300 local runs. Android automatic backup is disabled. Uninstalling or clearing app data removes the runs. Export important records first. Atomic saves keep the last saved state if a write fails. Check device storage and retry. Unreadable or inconsistent saved data is protected from further writes. If the library is protected, do not clear app data or reinstall before contacting support.
