Needlark

Your picture.
Your next stitch.

Create a limited-color cross-stitch chart from a photo. Refine the palette, edit full crosses, print a readable counted PDF and save your stitching progress.

Make, edit, finish

Choose a picture from Photos or Files, set the longest side and color limit, and preview the chart before saving. Near-white areas can be blank. Use Pan to move a zoomed chart; Inspect selects a color. Draw and Erase edit cells, while Stitched marks only the selected color. Use Edit a cell for precise row and column actions. Fit and the zoom buttons change your working scale.

Palette edits names, display colors and your own thread references, and can merge colors. Chart settings controls fabric count, margin, A4/US Letter and PDF style. Create files makes a counted PDF, PNG, color-key CSV and editable JSON. Import that JSON to copy a chart and its progress. Long press a chart in the library to duplicate or delete it.

Up to 160 cells per axis and 24 custom RGB colors. Images may be up to 20 MB. Only full cross stitches are included. There is no automatic DMC/Anchor or other branded thread match, machine-embroidery file export, imported PDF interpretation, fractional stitches or backstitch. Select actual thread yourself; screen and printed colors vary. The PDF is a counted chart, not a true-size fabric template.

Privacy policy

Effective October 1, 2026. Needlark is provided by Gobling Company. The app does not collect, transmit or upload personal information, photos, charts or stitching progress to a developer-operated server. It has no advertising, tracking, analytics, accounts or third-party SDKs.

Images you explicitly select from Photos or Files are read on the device. Saved source image copies, chart cells, palette names and references, notes and progress are saved in the local app storage. Source copies are resized to at most 1024 pixels per edge for local storage. Images are not sent to the developer. Charts start empty; the original example is loaded only when you choose it.

Derived PDF, PNG, CSV and JSON files are generated locally in the app cache. System sharing sends the files only to destinations you choose. Those destinations have their own privacy terms. The JSON backup contains the chart, source image and progress. Share it only with intended recipients.

Delete a chart from the gallery to remove its saved image, palette, cells, progress and associated cached output. Deleting the app removes its app data. Copies you exported or shared remain at their chosen destinations and must be deleted there. Device backups may include local app data according to your Apple or computer backup settings.

If you email support, we receive the information you send and use it to answer your request. Opening this support website sends ordinary web requests to its hosting provider. Neither action is needed to make or export a chart. You can contact the support address for privacy questions.
