Import and revise
Choose an EPUB with Android Files. The app inspects a private staged copy and shows its item count before you add it to the library. Cancelling leaves the library unchanged. Drag chapter rows or use Earlier/Later inside a chapter. Rename changes the table-of-contents label; it does not rewrite the chapter body or its headings. Primary controls sequential reading. Non-primary items stay in the spine as linear=no and remain linked from the new TOC.
Metadata and navigation
Edit the primary title, primary creator and language tag. Other metadata, existing identifiers and unmodified resource payload bytes are retained. Build replaces the existing navigation document with a flat TOC linking all chapter items, including nonlinear ones. Original hierarchy, landmarks and page lists are replaced. Existing legacy NCX is rebuilt too. Internal links inside chapter bodies are not rewritten.
Build and verify
Build & verify EPUB creates a new file, reopens it, checks the saved reading order, linear flags, primary metadata and TOC targets, and compares unchanged resource payload bytes. The result includes an actual output SHA-256 hash and verified preservation count. Changing the plan makes the earlier delivery stale until you build again. These bounded checks are not a full visual rendering test or EPUBCheck certification.
Real outputs
The ZIP contains Publication.epub, Audit.pdf, Audit.txt, ChapterAudit.csv, Plan.json and Manifest.json with five payload hashes. Reports include all planned items, original headings, order, labels, inclusion, paths and whitespace-token counts. Save EPUB/PDF/CSV/plan/original uses Android Files; Share ZIP opens the native chooser. Detailed reports are English and retain original text.
Plans and originals
Private originals and per-publication plans survive restart. Duplicate revision makes an independent local source/plan copy. Plan JSON restores only when its source hash and complete item IDs match the selected original. Confirm before replacing a plan or deleting a publication. Saved exports remain outside the private library. Keep the exact original separately: a plan bound to the original cannot be applied to an already rebuilt EPUB with a different hash.
Supported scope
Repair supports DRM-free EPUB3 with local XHTML spine items. EPUB2, navigation inside the spine, fixed-layout, encryption/font obfuscation, digital signatures, media overlays, broken/duplicate IDs, missing resources and unsafe/local-root-escaping paths cannot be rebuilt. UTF-8 and BOM-marked UTF-16 XML are accepted; external/internal DTD declarations are rejected. The app does not execute HTML/scripts or fetch network resources. Text preview is extracted text, not a reader’s rendered layout. Source active content, if any, is retained as unexecuted resource data.
Limits and compatibility
Original16MiB; expanded32MiB; single entry4MiB;2000 ZIP entries;300 spine items. Library20 publications and250MiB of originals. Text preview200,000 characters per chapter. These are memory/storage bounds, not a guarantee of compatibility with every EPUB. Existing source filenames, body links and resource payloads are preserved; unusual names such as spaces may still cause older-reader compatibility warnings.
Recovery
An unreadable library index pauses library changes and offers retry and an exact original-index export. An unreadable publication plan retains its original and lets you save that original or open another publication. No automatic reset overwrites the original. Keep independent copies of important source and delivery files.
