Build a plan
New plan starts empty. Add device, enter its name and optional role/location, then Add port. Choose Input or Output and declare its transport and connector. Save each port and then the device. Add patch chooses an output and an input on different devices. In Matrix, select an output device and an input device, then tap a crosspoint. Existing crosspoints edit that connection. Diagram can be panned and pinched; Fit resets its scale. The optional North Room session is fictional and uses the same editable objects and calculations as your work.
Interpret the checks
Analog delivered level equals source level plus modeled gain. Headroom equals input maximum minus delivered maximum. Use gain 0 for a passive cable; nonzero gain represents an external-stage assumption. Each link is independent; internal preamp paths and an end-to-end gain sum are not inferred. The input/source impedance ratio is a planning reference, with below 5:1 flagged for review and 0 treated as unknown. This threshold does not establish equipment compatibility. Phantom tolerance must be confirmed from equipment documentation.
Digital links use declared transport, configured sample rate, clock role and reference label. A common external reference may have two followers; multiple devices marked Source under one label are flagged. Matching labels do not verify physical clock lock. USB timing remains host-managed. A shared input is a conflict; output fan-out needs review because combined loading is not modeled. Disabled patches remain in the plan and exports but are excluded from active checks.
Files and imports
Files → Create PDF + CSV + JSON creates Route-sheet.pdf, Routes.csv and PatchBay-plan.json from the current plan hash. Preview a file, choose Save file and complete Android’s destination picker. File saved is shown only after the write stream closes. Share opens a chooser and does not establish delivery. Earlier-plan files retain their original contents and are labelled. Four export sets are retained per plan; a fifth replaces the oldest local set. Keep independent copies.
Import plan JSON accepts a PatchBay Android backup or an original iOS single-plan JSON up to 4 MiB. It creates independent identifiers and never overwrites the original. Original iOS clock-source flags do not contain reference labels, so review them after import. The iOS target peak field is not an Android calibration model. Invalid endpoint references and unsupported formats are refused.
Limits and storage
The private library holds 15 plans. Each plan supports 30 devices, 150 total ports, 24 ports per device and 250 patches. The local export workspace is limited to 128 MiB. Direction stays fixed while a port is connected; remove its patches first. Removing a port/device asks before removing its connected patches. Delete plan removes its local work and exports; external saved copies remain.
Device backup is disabled. Uninstalling or clearing app storage removes private work. A damaged or changed library is protected from overwrite. Save recovery ZIP preserves raw library and local exports before an explicit reset. It is an inspection archive, not an automatic restore format; valid portable JSON files can be extracted and imported.
